To prevent losing your PPC, set an alarm once or twice a week with your address and a reward for returning it!

If the current button mapping in Windows Media Player makes your device a bad music player, simply remap them! Press menu>options>buttons and set your own buttons.

If you have an HTC device, chances are that you have an application closing utility without knowing about it! Press start>settings>task manager. It's not DA BOMB, but it gets the job done!

Add fonts to your device! Simply find the fonts folder on your computer (brilliantly named "Fonts") and copy them to \Windows\Fonts on your device.

Some memory cards are not formated to FAT32 when shipped and use the older FAT16 file system. On your PC (using a card reader), right-click on your card's icon and select "format". Select FAT32 and press "format". Don't forget to backup, it'll wipe everything on your memory card!

NEVER restore backup files between different language ROMs. Restoring a french backup to an english one resulted in nothing but a hard reset.

Can't afford a case? Don't want to use your precious belt estate? Take a sock and cut it the size of your device+1 inch. Turn over the sock, sew an end then turn it over again. Ta-da! A sock case! *bad joke removed*

It's good practice to delete temporary internet files from time to time. Just go in Pocket IE, click Menu>Tools>Options>Memory>Delete files

Unlike some of you might think, fully discharging batteries before putting them on charge is BAD for the batteries. Your devices now use li-ion batteries and unlike the older nickel-based batteries, they die after some time, not after X charges. They don't have a "memory" neither so charge them whenever you want. However cold or hot temperatures do affect your battery life. Airsoft players will know what I'm talking about if they ever played at -20 celsius. Same goes for laptops that are not on flat surfaces. Don't buy aged batteries as they oxide and lose their capacity.

Some keyboard shortcut, just like in WinXP, are available on WM. CTRL+A,B,C,I,N,Q,U,V,X and Z all work if you can find the control button

If you want a picture or document (or any other file) to have a shortcut in the start menu, simply copy the file, go in /Windows/Start menu and click Menu>Edit>Paste shortcut. Ta-da! You can now launch the file from the start menu!

Stop adding everyone's birthday in the calendar! Go in contacts, add or edit a contact and scroll down completely. There is a birthday AND birth date field. It will be added to your calendar as an all day item that will repeat every year. Talk about awesome!

Try SPB Pocket PC Tips & Tricks. I took a few of them from here. Especially the battery thing that finally put an end to the annoying argument between my father and I about it. I'd rather buy a new battery every two years than spend a day with 20% charge left. Pfff...

Don't save your fonts in \windows\fonts.
I stored a few fonts there once and after that fonts everywhere started to change... Seemingly random text changed from systemfont into my newly installed fonts. The title of Comm Manager and WiFi-settings changed font. On the frontpage of youtube.com in PIE large pieces of text where now in "kinkimono.ttf". Other sites suffered too.
And since various programs now actually used those fonts it wasn't easy to remove them at all...
I don't know if this font-changing-problem is wm5 related or if other OSystems will use fonts from the \windows\fonts folder in wrong places.

The simple solution is: Save fonts directly in your \windows folder, works just the same. With the same fonts now in \windows folder nothing changed its font so far...
