it depends to what features or settings you're referring to. PIN code stands for Personal Identification Number and is used for several purposes. for example, a BlueTooth PIN code is a code that should be set to authenticate a paired connection. or a SIM PIN code is a number that locks the sim card until you enter the correct code. this protects your account, even if your sim is put into another handset.

these are some WM6 update for Cingular 8525:
WM6 Black Satin: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=30018 and viewtopic.php?f=60&t=26627
WM6 Black Magic: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=25256

try them at your own risk!

as an owner of an 8525, you can easily do a hard reset and reset all of the codes/pins.
unless it is the sim pin.
On the 8525 a hard reset will not turn that on off. (I have this checked; my minimal security feature  ).
Go to settings-phone and uncheck the security box.
A HR will now reset all of the codes.

btw, you can get this code.

as far as updating to wm6, i would not recommend it.
Sure, youll get nicer gfx, gui, and a bit improved speed. But there are also risks.
I am yet to bump into one that works flawless.
wm5 is stable and works great, perfectly.
Note: cingular/att has not released an official wm6 for the 8525, so try at your own risk.
:D

Yep, I agree with Iceman, if there is no official release, and this is your first time, you should really consider it again.
Unless you have a friend who is familiar with flashing rom, there you can try the cooked WM6 rom.
Mine is just fine too with WM5 though I had experience with flashing rom, I wouldn't rush to flash it to WM6 just yet.

cheers,
