If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

I've been doing some reading and have search but cannot find all the information I need and have to ask for help.

I look at the movie section and would like to contribute. I did find Plato DVDtoPPC and ripped AVP Unrated Edition as a test. Here it is when ripping:

Here is the 288MB file properties when complete:

Here is a preview example captured with ImageGrabber II:

Now take in mine that this is just a test file and I would like to contribute newer files. What I read was that I would be better off using a card reader to transfer the file rather than using my USB Cradle cause of the time. I will go in a little bit to purchase one so that I can do this.

What I do not know is (and I looked) what program do I need to be able to play an .avi Xvid movie on a PPC with WMP9? I read somewhere about a video program but I cannot find it again to save my life.

Have a Rapidshare Premium account and have been into the warez scene for many years but am just getting into the PPC warez scene.

Any help would be appreciated with the video player for a PPC.

Thanks

Everything looks awesome snafu! looking forward to your posts! :D
you did an increadible job in this post aswell, thank you for making your questions extremely clear! :)

And yes, the absolutely best and fastest way to transfer large files is to insert your storage card into your comp or a card reader.
If you have a new comp/laptop, there should be one built in. Most new comps/laptops have this standard.
But if yours doesnt, no problems, card readers are cheap; $0 USD - $10 USD. I would reccommend you buy a card reader that can read all the formats, like a 14-in-1.

As for the app to view flix on ppc, try this:
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2228&hilit=+tcpmp
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12689&hilit=+tcpmp
There are many other appz thatll work, but this one is a fan favorite.
Try them all out and see which one suits you.

For viewing all files on you pc, use K-lite codec pack.

Thank you very much for the reply.

That TCPMP is what I saw but but after I saw it I could not remember what it was called. The brain goes south after you get past a certain age. I can remember stupid movie or computer stuff but the short memory just isn't what it used to be.

I will be going to Best Buy this evening and will purchase a 14 in 1 card reader or the next best thing if Best Buy is out. I'm seeing that a 1GB SD card will prolly be filled up quicker than normal with all the new stuff I'm learning so I'll be picking up a 4GB SD card.

Next thing I gotta figure out is how to convert preexisting Xvid files 700MB + into these smaller 300MB +/- a few Xvid files. The Plato post mentioned "All to" but the Rapidshare download had Plato DVD to PPC enclosed.

I have several older DVD's here and it only took an hour and 48 minutes to rip so after I have allot of those ripped I'll start working on learning Xvid to Xvid reduced size.

I'll also try to make my first movie post within the posting guidelines that I read so that I do not cause any unneeded work for the mods/admin.

Thanks once again for your reply AeroIceman

Much appreciated

Wow, after rereading my first post I saw way to many grammar errors. I should not try and make posts while watching a movie with Julie Delpy in it. She does nothing but distract me and put me in awe.

no problem. glad im able to help. :)
for converting files, take a look at this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14526
and try other similar appz, see which one works for you best. :D

btw, be careful when buying a card bigger than 2GB, it may not work on your device.
Most devices dont support cards bigger than 2GB. look at your phone for more info.

Man, let me tell ya, your help has been wonderful. I went to Best Buy and purchased a Kingston 2GB SD flash memory card and a Dynex 5-in-1 Memory Card Reader/Writer (they didn't have 14-in-1 and they wanted a mint for the 12-in-1's for some reason) and everything worked out great.

First thing I did was back up all the data off of the 1GB SD memory card to the laptop and then copied it to the 2GB SD memory card which took 20 minutes. I then copied AVP to the 2GB SD memory card which took about 3 minutes. Played the AVP movie in TCPMP (your suggested player) in both portrait and landscape mode and the quality is outstanding.

I also downloaded Dr.Divx from the link that you suggested and converted a 100MB adult .wmv video to a 12MB .divx movie and it played very well too although I did not see the option to set Hight/Width parameters right off the bat. I know that I will get the Dr. Divx thingie soon enough but for now what I learned so far is great.

Our ISP is experiencing technical difficulties atm and should have it fixed by tonight in which time I'll upload the movie. It would be nice to be able to stay on the net more than 5 minutes without having to acquire IP again.

Once again thank you for your exceptional help. I will try to upload movies as often as I can to contribute for what I've learned on the forums so far.

Thanks yet again,
