If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

Hello there!

A few days ago I installed "PocketAlarm" in my htc p4350 (herald - wm5). Once installed, I included it in the Start menu. However, I found out that the program doesn't suit my needs, so I trashed it. However, now I can't remove the icon from the Start Menu.

The obvious procedure, is going to Settings/Menus and from there de-select the relevant application. Unfortunately, when I select PocketAlarm, it displays a message stating that "Unable to move that item". I tried rebooting and after that removing the app, but in vain. I also tried re-installing the application, but now I end up with two "PocketAlarm" icons, the old one (which I still can't deselect) and the newly installed one.

Any help mates?

Thanks in advance!

maybe you could use file explorer and then remove the icon from /windows/start menu. or have you tried that?
then use memmaid (released here: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=25464&hilit=memmaid) to delete the files that you don't need :)

You can't fail if you don't give up.

to add to the great advice by Oskar,
an alternative to memmaid is SKTools, either/or will get the job done.

Ah, lovely! Thank you both for your replies!

I used file explorer, and after some digging I found the files to delete!

Once again many thanks for your help!

Cheers,

Also try installing, then unistalling again. Then after that, try a softreset. If that doens;t work, try the file explorer option

always make sure that it's not currently running by going to Start\Settings\System\Memory -> Running Programs tab before uninstalling a program or game.

anyway, as already mentioned, to remove a dead shortcut from the start menu try one of the followings:

• Use either the default file explorer or a third-party tool such as Resco Explorer, navigate to Windows\Start Menu and remove the shortcut. if the file cannot be removed, rename it to something else, soft-reset your device and try again.
• Use a system utility such as MemMaid or SKTools to completely remove all files of an unsuccessfully uninstalled program.
• Try to reinstall it again and make sure to soft-reset before uninstalling it.
