I think you first need a new keyboard... you seem to have problems with the caps key...

ajay, please don't type with all caps next time. It's considered shouting and is unappropriate.

Anyhow, i've read several threads on this subject. First of all, why do you want to do this? Second of all, i must warn you that this is illegal.

"illegal"... :)
is changing the IMEI the same as unlocking?
if so, it wouldn't really be illegal, it just wouldn't be legal...

Which to my understandings is a modified definition of the word "illegal." ;)

However no files are hosted here... making it perfectly legal.

If this is for a legitimate purpose, for example you have 2 phones, and the carrier provides services based on IMEI (for example I can't receive MMS on my Titan, but can on my Apache), then you can just take it to your dealer, explain the reasons and they will change it on your phone. If it's for non-legitimate purposes, for example it fell off a truck, you found it in the street and it's been reported stolen, then this is where legality comes into it.

Google is the easiest way to do it, there are lots of forums that will assist if you can supply a legitimate reason for wanting to change your IMEI. I will assist you if you can supply a legitimate reason with evidence.

no comment :)

anyways, you can ask your carrier to unlock your phone, or you can pay money to unlock it online,
as long as you own the phone it is legal (right?)

If you lost it, then how can you use it? You shoul be fine with the new one; just pop the sim in and everything should go well.

I had a friend that did that, problem is, it's insurance fraud. Part of your claim, most likely on the disclaimer you signed said if the lost/stolen goods are recovered they are the property of the insurance company and must be surrendered immediately.

You will require a new ESN from the service provider, since all ESNs are allocated by them, at which point they will want the serial number to register the ESN. If you change it to the same ESN as your new phone, you will both receive the same phone calls and text messages. Either way, you've either got a duplicate of your current phone, or the phone provider will know the serial number is for a lost phone. One is pointless since you already have a phone that works, one is illegal.

Hello,
Is your promise valid for everyone? if so, I can supply a reason and will be very grateful if you could help me with imei changing.
A month ago after a night out I couldn't find my phone (o2 xda orbit2), I tried to call on my number , phone was switched off. So I thought it was stolen/lost and reported to my provider. They blocked my sim and phone and I got a new sim for my number. After a few days I was contacted and told that I forgot my phone in the restaurant. So I got it back but it was blocked. Next thing I call my provider and ask to remove the block, but they say that they can only remove the block on the phones which had been bought through them but thing is I got my phone (quite expensive have to say) on ebay, and now it is unusable. and I haven't claimed insurance on it simply because I didn't have my phone insured.
If all this sounds legitimate enough I would very much appreciate your help

If a provider can block it, they can unblock it. If they can't, they should give you a new phone. If they refuse, you can take them to small claims court because they made your phone unusable, they need to have a way to make it useable again. Where are you going to get another ESN from to change it to anyway? If it's from your provider, then take it in and they will change it for you.
