If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

for some days now my phone is acting weird.
The sign in the corner for example saying "3G" sometimes changes into a G or E, what does that mean? which stands for what?

i think that causes my main problem: i cant recieve sms and sometimes calls from another country. calls sometimes work but sms- no chance.
Why does this happen and what can I do to fix this problem?

btw I got a HTC touch 3G with WM 6.1

G is the same as 3G AFAIK and E stands for EDGE or 2.5G

AFAIK you cannot change them (maybe someone else may tell you i do not have a 3G phone) it all depends on the reception quality if 3G reception is good it will select that if not it will drop to the next lower level ie EDGE

I don't get the E icon, but the H icon, anyone knows what that stands for?
concerning sms, did you check your operator's sms settings on your device?

there was nothing wrong with my sms until those icons started to change.
i think it does have something to do with sms if they are about network etc.

there are some settings but i dont know if i should play around there. for example for sms i can chose between gsm, gprs, gsm favoured and gprs favoured. i changed it to grps favoured now which seems to be more modern?

I think XVI is right. It have nothing to do with the SMS. The symbol 3G, E, G or H (HSDPA) only shows which data service is available at your current location.

Have you change any SMS setting recently? You can try to change your sms settings or call your local network service provider for assistance.

Just wanna share something. No matter the symbol is - 3G, G, E, H - sometimes the phone provider traffic is heavy which prevents us to receive/send sms. It happens to me in certain areas, say, business area. My 2-c only.

In phone settings, somewhere should be the text message service center #.
