I'm really pissed off...

brought the ipaq 910

1. my old bluetooth ipaq foldable keyboard doens't work....too old for 910....wasn't exactly a CHEAP keyboard...DAMN HP...they came up with the exact same keyboard but different firmware....on letter more ()*&$*(^&....can't update my old keyboard...So complete waste...
although it is at least 3 years old..but still
2. built in GPS sucks, quickGPS doesn't work, GPS doesn't work with googlemaps BUT, I was indoors
going to test it out with Tomtom 7 outdoors when it stops raining here -.-

my main problem is...

MY GAMES DON"T WORK!!!?!??!!?!?
because I have landscape 320*240...(*#&(*%^#&^(

HELP!....

games I tested so far....
m16, skyforce reloaded, snails...

any advice?

PS: going to test machine at war, worms, and airland soon UPDATE: FAIL

tested my favorite game, machine at war....
its runs...
but...
the touch screen is off, whever I press, it is above it
and the "enter" key doesn't work, have to press left to select...

Worms won't install at all....

only game that worked is the new EA monlpoy...



edit: acky's xp breakout also doesn't work
I tried editing the gui file for machine at war, still had same problems.....


are there ANY good games I CAN play? T_T.....

weird...old games work, new games don't :S

Gamebox Asia II doesn't work either T_T

btw, sure this is about screen orentation, I checked most/all games to see if they were wm6 compatable

spb airislands don't work either...my last good game hope :S

astraware boradgames works, no problem

GBA advance doesn't work...which means a bunch of emu games are gone :S

My guess is that all astraware games work...

I had A BUNCH OF GAMES before...basically delete all my games for ppc on pc since they don't work T_T

Test on landspace devices:320*240

Software part:
SPB weather doesn't launch, shows nothing,
however, the plugin works fine :S...don't know if that is worth it or not...might uninstall (any alternatives?)

Hicalc, mdict, spb insight (crashes often though...anyone have alternatives?), spb diary, skype, opera mobile....blah blah blah

so far only spb weather has problems (for software)

Ateksoft Webcamera Plus and softmaker work (note presentation (ppt) didn't work, but I think it is more due to corruption of install than program not working due to the fact that I was uninstalling two programs at the same time it was installing, but idk, will check later)


Summary:
All programs so far work except:
Spb weather (the plugin does work fine! which is what I want...but still....if there are other programs, why keep a "disabled" program?)

Anyways, for people that do have the same problem with me.

zingmagic games work, and warfare (thank god!) works, the startup screen has black lines, but the gameplay screen is full screen
Also, pdamill games (on the site, dl the demo) were updated to support 320*240, only game I tried that didn't work was number cruncher (the free game).

Nothing else to test -.-, so I'll shut up about this topic now

hi, i'm planning to buy ipaq 914c which seems to be quite similar with 910 but this got me quite concerned about games compatibility.. how does it run emulators? like morphgear and smartgear and pocketsnes? also have you tried any DOS emulators?

If you want I can create a list of the games/programs that run, I tested out a lot more programs/games

anyways,

1. 914 and 910 really simliar fyi
2. native landscape, Pocket GBA and gnuboy DOESN"T run. HOWEVER, Morphgear does, BUT GBA slow to unplayable, GB playable
3. Haven't tried DOS emu, sry

Btw,
I'm assuming that you did some research already on the device.
My experience is so far a 8 on a 10 point scale.

Bad things:
1. native landscape (could be good or bad, games have problems, but the landscape makes a lot more sense in typing/surfing net)
2. WEAK GPS(*^&$(*^&#()%*&)(#*% (works, but weak....could be because I was doing most of my testing indoors though )
3. TOO NEW (*^#&(*#&(*% my ipaq bluetooh foldable keyboard DOESN"T WORK, I spent $80 on the )(*&%-#)% keyboard...(should note that the keyboard itself is around 5 years old...the new version on the keyboard apparently does work..WHICH I DON"T HAVE)
4. CRASHES A LOT....proabably beacuse i install a bunch of ()*&^)#^& on it though
5. Slow reset.....although the time I'm comparing it to was my old hp2200 that died....so I don't really remember how long is "long"....also from some reasearch, seems to be a wm6.1 thing more than a hardware thing...
6. Camera is slow....but I like it a lot, works for my needs....

Thanks for the reply, i have been searching info on how 910 series runs games but couldn't find any elsewhere.
I understand that it can't run GBA at good speed, but SNES works fine without sound? Have you tried emulators PocketSNES or Smartgear? It would also be good if i could get a confirmation that PocketDOS works with it, then i would surely get this phone (Expansys is selling them renewed for 220€, great price IMO)

I"M REALLY REALLY PISSED AT THE GBA part...

my 8 year old hp2200 could run pocket GBA at a playable speed...but my NEW ipaq 910c can't run pocket gba (due to the landscape screen)...
So I guess it is more ofthe fact that morphgear GBA and GB plugin sucks

ipaq 910c DOES NOT have 3mm headphone jack
however, I brought the s9-hd bluetooth headset so the music/video problem works for me

I was just wondering if the PocketDOS runs in this phone at all, i don't need anything tested on it. I guess i'll order 914c, Expansys seems to running out of the stock pretty quick.
