If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

So... been running 6.5 for a while now on my HTC Touch Vogue. And I finally realized I was getting sick of SCROLLING all of my menus whenever I needed to do things.

Problem is, "Touch Friendly" basically means increasing the font size on everything. Which means less things fit on your screen. And, as I can still see up close without reading glasses, and I'm not trying to jab at buttons while I'm driving, I find I'd rather have a reasonable sized font and fit more options on my tiny QVGA screen. Also the first thing I do with the new start menu is install a 4-row hack to shrink the icons to something less gigantic.

Am I the only one who hates this new "touch friendly" trend? I don't mind more intuitive interfaces, like swiping left/right to switch tabs, etc, that's all cool. Better scrolling is nice too. But having everything in giant 'fisher price sized' lettering just strikes me as playing to the lowest common denominator.

Other than the 4-row hack, another workaround is to install a 6.1 theme on 6.5, as this will shrink menus back to a normal size. I have also done away with Titanium, as it makes it difficult to see a lot of information at a glance. M2d seems okay, but at the moment I'm experimenting with going back to the old Today screen...

Here's what I've got right now:

Kinda hard to fit that much info into a Titanium screen or an m2d screen, and I still have room for more. Am I just an old fogie destined to wither away as the world moves on, or are there others with me on this?

i like the touch friendliness that winmo is beginning to offer, especially how they reworked the contacts scrolling, because it looks really nice on my touch pro. I like the big fonts because they look more "bubbly" on the menus and once i used reStart to organize my 3 row start menu to have my most used programs on the first part of the menu, i gladly accepted the big icons. Btw about the size of the font, i use a program called advanced config to change my font to size and maybe you can try that. if it doesnt work, there r registry settings u can change to avoid using a 6.1 tsk

I feel exactly like the OP. While I like the idea of not having to use a stylus I dislike the amount of information displayed on finger friendly software. Concerning WinMo 6.5 I can't say anything because I haven't tried it till now, but every finger friendly shell has found its way on my Eten X800 only to be removed again after some days as I found myself constantly flipping through the different screens to get the information that I am used to having on my today screen in WinMo 6.
What I really miss though is the "elastic" scrolling (or whatever that is called) where you can scroll a list by dragging the list itself instead of the scrollbar and the list keeps on scrolling depending on how fast you dragged the list...
