I'm using a gSmart i350 WM 6.0 phone, but there seems to be a synchronization bug - I often get a message: "There have been changes made on your server which make it necessary to resynchronize all items on your device. Select Yes or No" and basically I have to select Yes, otherwise all my contacts are deleted on device. Then it takes ages to resynchronize everything, and then it happens again two days later (or even every day). It's such a pain - I wish the original Palm were still alive - it was so much smoother and easier to use.

Is it because of the Outlook ActiveSync email I am synchronizing? Because of this problem I had to hard reset everything, but now it has come up again. Arrrrrrrrrrrghghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Can anyone offer a clue? Is it wrong to ActiveSync an email account?

Deactivate Email synchronisation in ActiveSync and see if it helps.

And what sort of Outlook messaging do you use? Local PC (PST files) or exchange server based?

Thanks Bernd. I think I'm using normal Outllook email syncing - it's a POP account being synced to PDA. I don't know how to set up an Exchange account(though it sounds useful - any links for that?

Forgat about Exchange (unless your email provider would have one AND give access to you). Usually used in mid- or large-size companies, activesync works well that way. (Sometimes it stops, you have to change the "PC to USB" settings to make it work again)
What about unchecking "contacts" for sync?

Disabling Contacts sync would take away one of my two main uses for a WM PDA (the other reason is Task/To-Do List Management). Some days ago I wasn't using ActiveSync email (only POP email) and I wasn't experiencing this problem.

Not me because i synchronize everything except emails. That's why i recommended to you to try that. But i don't have a real explanation for the endless loop.

u could try to tick/untick start-settings-system-usb to pc-enable advanced network functionality

that helps if activesync to exchange doesn't work any longer, making it work again
