Just a warning if you pay to download POI's from GPS Data Team at:
http://www.gps-data-team.com/
I paid back in 2008 and everytime I had to go back to update POI's I seem to have problems being able to download the customer only POI's. Even though I inadvertantly paid membership twice all they did was roll the two memberships into one, no offer of a refund or anything. Final straw was last week, went on and tried to download and got the message that basically said "Your account is inactive and you must post on the forum for your account to be reactivated". I sent help email and got reply back that all registered users could download at any time. Tried again and no response, so I posted a fairly critical post about having to post forum items or you are deactivated. Nowhere on the signup page does it say you have to post. Below is a copy of the signup page I agreed to:
Australian speed and red light camera POI Zone Customer account includes all listed features plus access to our "CUSTOMERS ONLY" files.
I Agree to these terms and am over or exactly 13 years of age
Registration:
$10.00 AUD
A once only payment for lifetime access
Add and edit POIs
Share POI files
Manage private POIs
Join Affiliate Program
POI Zone access:
$20.00 AUD
A once only payment for lifetime access
Download speed and red light camera database
Download "CUSTOMERS ONLY" marked files
Add and edit POIs
Share POI files
Manage private POIs
Join Affiliate Program
Notice nothing about having to post on any forum.
Anyway the post did not appear, so I signed in again and posted it a second time and it appeared. Found I could then download POI's so went back to forum when I had finished. I posted another post that I could now download, but would like to know why I had to post to be able to download. This post appeared and my two previous posts from less than 20 minutes befire had been removed. Next day I found all posts had disappeared and my account made inactive without any explanation. I asked for an explanation ans was ignored, not even the courtesy of an email explaining why lifetime membership is obviously only until they decide to terminate. I suggest they are very touchy at GPS Data so if you have problems DO NOT criticise them as you will join me.
Not impressed as I paid $20.00 for lifetime access and I got 12 months.
